I was brought into hunting at a very early age. As soon as I could walk fast enough to keep up with the grown-ups I was out there. My first hunts were with my father, uncles , and great uncles. I tagged along on the rabbit hunts….but looking back I realize they took me because I was small and could crawl right under those briar patches to retrieve the rabbits. That became my job. Every opportunity that was offered to hunt after that I jumped on! My Dad taught me most of what got me to where I am today. He worked me up slowly to squirrel, then let me sit in the deer woods with him. By the time I turned 12 I was hooked for good. It felt great being 13 years old and knowing your Dad had enough faith in you to let you deer hunt by yourself. I have since started my nephew along the same path I took. Back then it was all about the excitement for me.
But now I realize it’s about much more than that. I live to hunt! About 4 years ago I decided to concentrate solely on archery. Now I bow hunt from opening day till the beginning of January. Nothing else compares! Where else can you climb into a tree, watch the world wake, and witness the tranquility of that??? And then have the buck of your lifetime walk within a chip shot of that tree you picked out while you send a razor tipped “stick” to end his days….and thus follows the biggest rush of adrenaline you have ever experienced!!!
I HUNT FOR THAT!
